Putt For Show AND For Dough!
The golf putter becomes a very personal choice and until you get that ‘feel’ of the green in your hands as you hold your golf putter and see the line, you will continually keep searching for the “right” one.
This is one niche which thankfully, manufacturers exploit, so you will always have a great selection of ladies golf putters to choose from, including long putters and 2 ball putters.
Try some of these golf putter options like Ping putters, Taylormade putters, Wilson putters, Callaway putters, Mizuno putters here and more here and even more here.
There are really 4 main types, all with their pros and cons. These are for left handed putters as well as right handed putters ..…
| the blade putter – similar to your long golf iron but with no loft. These golf putters are often used well but if you don’t hit their ‘sweet spot’ bang in the middle, the club tends to twist and your golf ball can easily be sent off-line. | ![]() |
|
| the mallet putter – similar to the blade golf putter but with a flange built out the back of it. This golf putter usually has a line on it, to give you a good guide to its ‘sweet spot’ helping you to putt smoothly on line. | ![]() |
|
| the center shaft putter – instead of having the shaft angled into the heel of the golf putter, it’s joined very much near the center of the head. The ‘sweet spot’ is much nearer the shaft, so there’s less tendency for the golf putter to twist and send the golf ball off-line. | ![]() |
|
| the heel-toe putter – the weighting of this golf putter is at the heel and toe of the head and so giving a wider space at the center of the golf putter to stroke the bgolf ball solidly. | ![]() |
The ideal lie is for the sole of the golf putter to lie flat on the ground when you are in a comfortable position. A fairly upright golf putter is better, to keep your hands high and your eyes above the golf ball.
Remember that the longer and heavier your golf putter, the more delicate your swing has to be. So if you prefer to take a longer back swing, then choose a lighter and shorter golf putter.
But the main point about choosing the right golf putter is for you to feel comfortable with it then you’ll putt with confidence.
